Food Warming Guide

Every dish from DélicesKitchen is made with care. Follow these instructions to reheat your food safely and preserve the flavors and textures you love.

Food Safety Reminder: Always reheat food to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) before eating. Never reheat food more than once. Refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours of receiving your order.

Rice & Grain Dishes

Jollof Rice, White Rice, Fried Rice

Oven / Stovetop 325°F (165°C) 15–20 min
  1. 1.Preheat oven to 325°F.
  2. 2.Transfer rice to an oven-safe dish.
  3. 3.Add 2 tablespoons of water or broth per cup of rice to restore moisture.
  4. 4.Cover tightly with foil.
  5. 5.Heat until steaming throughout (about 15–20 min).
  6. 6.Fluff with a fork before serving.
Microwave 2–3 min
  1. 1.Place rice in a microwave-safe dish.
  2. 2.Sprinkle 1–2 tablespoons of water over rice.
  3. 3.Cover with a damp paper towel or microwave-safe lid.
  4. 4.Microwave on medium power (70%) in 1-minute intervals, stirring between each.
  5. 5.Let rest 1 minute before serving.

💡 Tip: Never reheat rice more than once. Discard if left at room temperature for over 2 hours.

Poulet DG, Oxtail, Goat Stew, Beef Stew

Oven / Stovetop 325°F (165°C) 20–25 min
  1. 1.Preheat oven to 325°F.
  2. 2.Place stew or braised meat in an oven-safe pot or dish.
  3. 3.Add a small splash of water or broth if needed to maintain moisture.
  4. 4.Cover tightly with a lid or foil.
  5. 5.Heat for 20–25 minutes until bubbling and hot throughout.
  6. 6.Stir halfway through heating.
Microwave 3–5 min
  1. 1.Transfer to a microwave-safe bowl.
  2. 2.Cover loosely to allow steam to escape.
  3. 3.Heat on full power in 90-second intervals, stirring each time.
  4. 4.Confirm internal temperature reaches 165°F before eating.

💡 Tip: Stews and braises often taste even better reheated as flavors deepen overnight.

Grilled & Fried Proteins

Grilled Chicken, Fried Fish, Plantain Chicken

Oven / Stovetop 375°F (190°C) 10–15 min
  1. 1.Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. 2.Place items on a wire rack over a baking sheet for even heat circulation.
  3. 3.Lightly brush with a small amount of oil to restore crispness.
  4. 4.Heat uncovered for 10–15 minutes.
  5. 5.Check that the thickest part reaches 165°F internally.
Microwave 1–2 min
  1. 1.Place on a microwave-safe plate.
  2. 2.Cover with a damp paper towel to prevent drying out.
  3. 3.Microwave on medium power in 30-second intervals.
  4. 4.Note: microwaving will soften any crisped skin or batter.

💡 Tip: For best results, use the oven or an air fryer (375°F, 5–7 min) to restore crispness.

Sweet Fried Plantains, Savory Plantains

Oven / Stovetop 375°F (190°C) 8–10 min
  1. 1.Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. 2.Spread plantains in a single layer on a baking sheet.
  3. 3.Heat for 8–10 minutes, flipping once at the halfway point.
  4. 4.They are ready when caramelized and heated through.
Microwave 45–60 sec
  1. 1.Place in a single layer on a microwave-safe plate.
  2. 2.Microwave on high for 45–60 seconds.
  3. 3.They will be soft — use the oven or air fryer for a firmer texture.

💡 Tip: Air fryer at 370°F for 3–4 minutes gives the best result for reheating plantains.

Soups & Sauces

Pepper Soup, Egusi Soup, Groundnut Soup, Sauces

Oven / Stovetop
  1. 1.Transfer soup to a saucepan.
  2. 2.Heat over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. 3.Bring to a gentle simmer (not a rolling boil).
  4. 4.Simmer for 5–8 minutes until hot throughout.
  5. 5.Adjust seasoning if needed after reheating.
Microwave 2–4 min
  1. 1.Pour into a microwave-safe bowl.
  2. 2.Cover loosely with a microwave-safe lid or plate.
  3. 3.Heat on full power in 1-minute intervals, stirring between each.
  4. 4.Let stand 1 minute before serving.

💡 Tip: For palm oil-based soups, gentle heat on the stovetop preserves the best flavor and texture.

Meat Pies, Chin Chin, Puff Puff

Oven / Stovetop 350°F (175°C) 5–8 min
  1. 1.Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. 2.Place items on a baking sheet.
  3. 3.Heat uncovered for 5–8 minutes until warmed through and slightly crisp.
Microwave 20–30 sec
  1. 1.Microwave for 20–30 seconds.
  2. 2.Note: pastry will become soft in the microwave.
  3. 3.Use the oven for best texture results.

💡 Tip: Puff puff and chin chin are best enjoyed at room temperature or very briefly warmed.
